Mayfly Larva - Siphloplecton basale

Mayfly Larva - Siphloplecton basale
Errol, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
May 23, 2006
Size: 14mm

Metretopodidae: Siphloplecton basale
Another very nice shot of this large mayfly. They are early emergers, and you can see this one is a "blackwing" --> would have emerged as a subimago before long.

New family
Don, thanks for identifying yet another new family for the guide.
