Mayfly Larva - Siphloplecton basale

Mayfly Larva - Siphloplecton basale
Errol, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
May 23, 2006
Size: 14mm

Metretopodidae: Siphloplecton basale
Very nice. The forked tarsal claws of the first pair of legs are not visible, but are diagnostic for this family. The color pattern of the caudal filaments are unusual and useful also.
