Size: Approx .25 to .5 in.
Is this a termite? Found this insect crawling on some carpet I was tearing up.

not a termite is an Orthoptera
I tried to add this comment but it seems like it did not take.
It is not a termite. It is an Orthoptera and probably in the family Stenopelmatidae ("Jerusaleum Cricket").
