Hyperaspis dobzhanskyi, female
A species limited to Arizona; the paratype was collected in Tucson, right around where you found this individual. It's a female, with a black head; in this species, both males and females have white anterolateral pronotal markings.

fairly similar to others ID'ed as H. connectens. e.g.
Ranging from s. CA to w. TX:

also, I don't see anywhere in Gordon (1985) where he states that H. dobzhanskyi have white lateral pronotal markings...
.

Thanks Abigail!
The specimen will go into the UAIC with your det.

terrific!
I'm sorry it took me so long to get around to it, it's a very exciting find!
