This is a small bug, possibly of the Sciomyzidae fly family nectaring dill in our Black Swallowtail plot, The Sparrow Field, a 3 1/4 acre field on Skidaway Island, bordered on one side by the salt water,Romerly Marsh for a distance of app 7 miles. There are a multitude of wasp, bees, flies, butterflies/skippers nectaring the many nectar/host-plants on our 133 yard "Pollinator Friendly Area" berm on one side of the field

Dr. Martin- thank you for your identification of my small fly, as " Zacompsia fulva." There are a multitude of insects nectaring our many nectar sources we have provided to our "Pollinator Friendly Area" I am slowly identifying the many flies, wasp, bees, beetles, etc.

This Picture-winged Fly is but one.

This is an interesting species, I have never collected it myself and we have only a few records of this in the BG... So great job! Keep the pictures coming.
