Appears to be a Broad-tailed Shadowdragon to me, but my readings indicate they are only found in eastern Canada. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking at body color, I'm unsure that it is a broad-tailed shadow dragon. however, i find that that seem to be the only one with the correct wing pattern.

It`s a female Sympetrum. You likely won`t get more specific than that.

The Shadow dragon looks quite different in body shape and abdominal markings and it doesn`t occur within a couple of thousand miles of British Columbia.

Rob Cannings wrote a very nice guide ``Introducing the Dragonflies of British Columbia and Yukon`` It`s published by the Royal BC Museum and is moderately priced.
