The genus Holcocephala
is famous for its broad head and widely separated eyes. There are three species in Ohio. The one with the long abdomen constricted at or near the base is Holcocephala calva.

Could it be a Holcocephalus gnat-ogre ? It was very small.

The small size once caused me to mistake one of mine for a Holcocephala, unless the final ID was incorrect ...
