Leaf-footed Bug -- Possibly Leptoglossus oppositus - Leptoglossus oppositus

Leaf-footed Bug -- Possibly Leptoglossus oppositus - Leptoglossus oppositus
Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA
July 31, 2011
Size: ~ 19 mm
On a trip a couple of weeks ago to our community gardens, I found several of this interesting large bug on numerous taller plants. This one was perched on a seed-developing sunflower. I'm not at all familiar with leaf-footed bugs, but I thought this might be Leptoglossus oppositus from the dots across the back. I'm hoping for confirmation of the ID, as there seem to be quite a few similar species. Also, is there any way to determine the sex? Thanks for the help!
