what is this?

what is this?
Taos County, New Mexico, USA
August 17, 2011
Size: about 3 cm
this insect has four pairs of legs like a spider, but then there are two enormous "legs" that stick out front and dwarf the others, is this a fifth pair of legs or huge pedipalps? If it is a spider, it only has 2 eyes, which is unusual, and the mouth is really weird. It comes to a point, but there are actually 4 little black things that from the point, you can see it better in photo 2 that I will also post.
