parasitized caterpillar - wasps - Euplectrus

parasitized caterpillar - wasps - Euplectrus
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
August 17, 2011
Size: ~2mm
Today when I checked the container where the caterpillar remains were, about 7 wasps had emerged from the body and from the two cocoons on the bottom of the container. I was surprised that there were so many wasps since the body of the caterpillar looked like it had dried up completely.
