Spider - Tigrosa

Spider - Tigrosa
Wacissa, Jefferson County, Florida, USA
August 16, 2011
I was in my kayak taking pix of birds on the Wacissia River when I spotted this little guy a good 100 feet from the nearest land.

Moved
Moved from Hogna.
Some species of Hogna were moved to a new genus, Tigrosa.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

It has those Wolf Spider eyes
Lycosidae. The water molecules bond to each other, and the spider isn't heavy enough to break those bonds. Surface tension! Drop in a little detergent and he'll fall right through!

Fantastic shot!
I'd like to know about the physics of this "walking on water" thing!
