Bolbocerosoma tumefactum
Tentative ID made by going through the collection at University of Maryland several years ago. You cannot see the detail well here but there is very small horn on the head and an incredible amount of sculpturing on the anterior pronotum.

Outstanding
No doubt about genus - will pull key for sp., probably right. The nice thing about this group is that spp. can be determined reliably by pattern of black markings (the black spot on the pronotum is key here). This is a male, females have pronotum unarmed.

yep
the black spot (sometimes merging with basal black area) on the pronotum and the elytra with lateral black markings NOT converging with sutural black stripe. From New York to Georgia, west to Ohio and Tennessee.
