Unknown Beetle - Rhynchophorus cruentatus

Unknown Beetle - Rhynchophorus cruentatus
Atlantic Beach, Duval County, Florida, USA
August 18, 2011
Size: size of a quarter
I believe it's a type of beetle, but not sure since I wasn't able to find it in the gallery of beetles.

Moved from ID Request.
I also cropped the image and removed the quarter. More bug and less background this way. Only the contributor and editors can click on images to see the full size image. All others see only a little dot on the sidewalk.

Rhynchophorus cruentatus?
Appears to be a palmetto weevil. See
