Holcopasites calliopsidis

Holcopasites calliopsidis
Evanston; James Park community garden, Cook County, Illinois, USA
August 19, 2011
Size: 3.5 mm
This small wasp with an orange and white decorated abdomen holds its wings along its sides so they are nearly invisible. I first thought it might be a small velvet ant but then it flew off. It was feeding on nectar when photographed.
