I've checked on them again this afternoon and there's no doubt that mommy or daddy is taking care of the kids here. The adults were standing in the middle of groups of about a dozen+ immature orange bugs.

Except that...
...there aren't any adults here--just nymphs of two different species, or the same species at two different stages of development. :)

I can't even predict ...
... where I'm likely to mess up :( but I'll try to check on them periodically; perhaps I'll be able to take photos of the adults. Cheers!
PS: They both have these pairs of black warts etc; guess that mislead me ...
