a moth fly. I don't know the genus, although someone else might

 
An interesting moth fly
This is one of many Nearctic species currently lumped in "Telmatoscopus". But it's definitely not Telmatoscopus in the strict sense. Can't really place this one in a described genus at the moment.

That's very cool! I plan to spend most of the summer collecting images of insects at Turtle River State Park (where this photo was taken), and so I'm hoping to capture better images (as well as some specimens) of moth flies. ;-)
