Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
August 19, 2011
Size: ~3mm
What is this very strange, big-eyed bug, with fuzzy-looking banding around its legs? Cool how the legs retract like landing gear. I suspect beetle, since it can to my new "Bug Napper" with bunches of beetles. Can't wait to find out. Thanks

Moved from ID Request.

The divided eyes support Caenocara over Byrrhodes.

Anobiid
Caenocara sp., I think...

Hmmm
Do know. The ventral side looks different. I'll change out photos tomorrow night when I can process with the RAW files. Should I find collect a voucher, can you key?

May be Byrrhodes rather
Caenocara seem to be less than 2.5 mm. If its Byrrhodes it should be keyable...
