Poecilopompilus sp. - Poecilopompilus algidus - female

Poecilopompilus sp. - Poecilopompilus algidus - Female
Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
August 21, 2011
I found this female digging a burrow for orb weaver spider she caught (Argiope sp.). She did not like me near her activity and would crawl toward me and my equipment, and when I backed off she would continue with work on her burrow. I had originally found the Argiope spider seemingly dormant in a nearby weed, until I put the clues together that the wasp had stuffed the spider in the weed while she worked on the burrow.
