Long-legged Fly - Condylostylus

Long-legged Fly - Condylostylus
Wildwood Park; Radford, Virginia, USA
August 20, 2011
Size: 7 mm ?
Is this a fly? If so, what kind, please? If not, what is it? It was very golden looking in the sunlight.

Moved from ID Request.

how about Condylostylus sipho? Thanks, Matt!

Long-legged Fly
and probably this one.

Tom, for your input.

More likely sipho group I think
The one you linked to has black legs. Not so with the pictured fly, which has lighter legs, more typical of the sipho group.

sipho group
All the species of Condylostylus north of the Gulf Coast with yellow femora and strongly marked wings are closely related to C. sipho.

John, I appreciate that info!

Victor, I appreciate your attention to that detail!
