Oculatus in takeoff - Alaus oculatus

Oculatus in takeoff - Alaus oculatus
Windham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA
June 8, 2006
Size: 39 mm
I had placed both A. oculatus in my light arena with a ScothBrite scouring sponge for sound footing to encourage them to fly. I got several flight shots, of which this is the best. This is the larger of the two beetles.
