Red and Black Spider Wasp? - Anoplius

Red and Black Spider Wasp? - Anoplius
Wahneta, Polk County, Florida, USA
Size: 25mm long, 35mm wingspan
This was collected flying around my backyard when the grass had been cut short. It tended to stay near the trees and was going in unorganized laps around a certain section of the yard.

Possibly...
but other species in the genus cannot be immediately ruled out by only this photo. The dark wings are normally characteristic of that subgenus of Anoplius (Arachnophroctonus), but darkness of the wings is a variable characteristic. Even spider wasps in the hand can rarely be identified to species using only one characteristic. Unless you have keyed it out using structures not visible in this photo I would be hestitant to put it at species level.
