Pod found on a floor at home. - Phereoeca uterella
Coral Springs, FL, Broward County, Florida, USA
August 23, 2011
Size: 13mm x5mm
A pod found on the floor at home. Something has been eating holes into clothes. Could this be the eater? If left undisturbed, what looks like a worm comes out of one end, then retreats back into the pod. It is repeated out of the other end. However, looking at it with a glass, it is not a worm but a millipede. It seems to be able to move about without leaving the pod completely. It is easy for me to imagine it on a fabric in our closet, coming out and munching out holes. I want to know if this millipede is guilty and, if so, how to prevent and control other such pods from eating our clothes. Thank you.

bagworm
moth (you can search it to read more)

I don't know the species,
but this is typical of clothes moths.
The larvae (caterpillars) live in these
cases until they pupate and become moths.
