This individual "danced" for a while each time it was in the process of perching. It perched low, approximately 2 to 4 inches above the ground. The body length was approximately 15mm (I had a tough time trying to get an accurate measurement of this individual, as I did not want to disturb it.) Habitat was a swampy woodland area with the water of the swamp within 10 feet. Ground was definitely moist.
This individual reminded me of Brachypremna dispellens, and several characteristics appear to match the description for Brachypremna dispellens from http://iz.carnegiemnh.org/cranefly/tipulinae.htm including leg color and description, pleura description, and individual appears similar to these BG images:
