Byturid convention
These look to me like family
Bytu*ridae
, but it's a new species for bugguide. By any chance did you take a closeup in which the beetle is at least half as long as your image is wide? It would help in ID work.

Wrong :-)
A couple months after making this comment I collected my first dasytines on a visit to southern New Mexico. They weren't this species but I would have no trouble identifying these as dasytines now :-)
