pretty sure he is Diapheromera, and I'll put him under the genus
until I (or somebody else) sorts through them. He's either D. femorata or D. arizonensis, but I'm not sure how to tell them apart.

I'm definitely no expert, but the site phasmatodea.com has some pix of Megaphasma that look very similar to yours(if it's not in the resources list, perhaps an editor should check it out before they want to consult it as a source).

But I could be wrong.

I'm retracting my original supposition of Giant Walkingstick in favor of Diapheromora sp. There are a slew of pix in the Guide waiting for identification to the species level.
