from what I can see of the end of the abdomen
Corey is probably correct. The parts that make identification certain on these are the appendages at the tip of the abdomen (in the males), and they are partly hidden in this one. However, from what I can see,
S. furcata
seems a good candidate.

katydid
This is a
Scudderia
katydid. The wing shape resembles
Scudderia furcata
, but I'd appreciate another opinion before moving to a species page.
