Missouri Rustic Sphinx Moth - Manduca rustica

Missouri Rustic Sphinx Moth - Manduca rustica
O'Fallon, St. Charles County, Missouri, USA
August 25, 2011
Size: 48 mm (body length)
HiRes image HERE.

I found this Manduca rustica (Hodges #7778) around midnight in a parking lot, resting on the pavement under a street light. After bringing it home and mounting it, I noticed that Bug Guide didn't have a Rustic Sphinx Moth from Missouri, so I took a photo and here it is; proof that Missouri does indeed have Rustic Sphinx moths.

My question is: Is it a male or female, and how do you tell?

Moved from ID Request.

Well within the known range, and your photo will add Missouri to the growing Bug Guide collection.
Thanks
