Katydids of Mississippi

I've recently been visiting a friend in Vicksburg, MS, and trying to document local katydid species (after discovering that BugGuide had a total of FIVE katydid images from MS! Five! Unacceptable!)

I'm still here and will likely accumulate more images, and still sorting through the ones I have, but I have a few questions re: IDs if anyone can help me . . .

First off, is Conocephalus strictus the only meadow katydid species in which, in the adult female, the ovipositor is longer than the body? I've been seeing lots of interesting color variation, from the typical green to a peachy color to a salmon pink, in something with a long ovipositor. The color variation makes making an ID a little challenging, though.

And speaking of challenging IDs - nobody's responded to this: http://bugguide.net/node/view/568517 . . . opinions?

You might just have to wait until experts have time. However, I used to email Dr. Thomas J. Walker with questions and he was quite helpful.
