Dusky Dancer ??? - Argia translata

Dusky Dancer ??? - Argia translata
5 miles north of Marengo, Orange County, Indiana, USA
August 28, 2011
Size: estimated: 7 cm
speculatively, this damselfly was IDed here a few days ago as a Dusky Dance (Argia translata). but Dusky Dancer is only confirmed in one indiana county, and not this one. i seem to recall the violet eye color is distinctive. from these pics (and i can get more tomorrow, probably) is it positive that this is a Dusky Dancer. also checked out moesta, but the violet eyes do not appear with moesta. since the description reads "widespread" maybe the county singularity is just a lack of reporting phenomenon. trying to elevate the confidence on the ID of this one. thanks, ~~~^^^larry^^^~~~

Nope
Azure Damselfly is the common name of a European coenagrionid (Coenagrion puella). It does not look like this, and is not found in North America.

Argia tibialis
Yes, a male Dusky Dancer (Argia translata). According to Odonata Central, this looks like an Orange County record. You might consider submitting the record to that site, which functions as a clearinghouse for Odonata distribution records. It is easy to register.
