Chauliognathus pensylvanicus Kunkletown, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, USA September 4, 2011
While wandering through patches of goldenrod (Solidago) today, I noticed hundreds of Chauliognathus pensylvanicus hanging from the goldenrod flowers. Every one had its wings spread and a white, fungus-like substance on the abdomen. Is this Eryniopsis lampyridarum?
