Strange looking rove washed out from among sand and gravel on creek bank near a waterfall; the sculpture of the pronotum and elytra looks quite unique.

Moved from Rove Beetles. A new genus for bugguide - this is a weird and rare phloeocharine - nice catch!

I knew this one was something special when I first saw it under the scope. Streamsides out here harbor many weird and interesting critters, especially staphs!
