Beetle - Serropalpus substriatus

September 4, 2011
Size: 18 mm
Found this very cool beetle on sandy beach. It looks like a member of Tenebrionoidea superfamily to me. Need help with ID.

Darren A. Pollock: "seems to be S. substriatus.
"Mank listed a couple other species (other than coxalis) from North America, but I doubt that there are more than just the two Nearctic spp."

Moved from Serropalpus.

Great!
Thanks to all of you guys!

Melandryidae
At least based on the palps and overall habitus. Not sure beyond family...perhaps something in Serropalpus?

Serropalpus...
looks good to me. Thanks, Tim!
This species reminds me (especially by maxillary palpi) S. barbatus from Europe, but I know we have at least three species in North America. Unfortunately, I do not have Mank's key.
