Trichiotinus lunulatus

Trichiotinus lunulatus
Church Creek, Dorchester County, Maryland, USA
June 23, 1984
Size: 11 mm
Identified by Phil Harpootlian. Collected on viburnum flowers. A very coppery specimen. May be confused with bibens(1) but smaller, faint but present white elytral stripes, and (barely visible in this photo) prominent lateral chalky spots on the pygidium would distinguish this as lunulatus. Also, lunulatus has a more southeastern range according to(2).
