Xylomya - Xylomya simillima

Xylomya - Xylomya simillima
Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, USA
June 2, 2006
Size: ~11mm
This reminds us of Jim’s images of Xylomya. We’re hoping it is since Herschel implied it was a nice find. There are a gracious plenty out in the woods, so we’d be much happier if it is some fine native species rather than some pesky non-native invasive! These are all images of different individuals. We’re assuming they are all the same species, but don’t know for certain.
