I was shooting Syrphid Fly, Pseudodoros clavatus on Helithrope, Heliotropes amplexicaule when this large hover appearing type bug perched directly below my tripod mounted 180mm lens. I got one sharp dorsal view, then it flew. I acquired a three additional views, ID Please?

Aaron- you, as a contributing editor, have really been giving it a 110 effort in vetting our submitted "Physoconops and Physocephala" images for the past years. I have, and continue to lear a great deal from reading your postings. I will be much more effective in the field acquiring digital captures, now knowing the main identifications points on the Canopidae flies, here on Skidaway Island, Savannah, Ga. Thanks for you time and caring attitude. It is most appreciated.
