Polyergus lucidus - female

Polyergus lucidus - Female
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 17, 2011
I found these Polyergus engaging in a raid. They entered a Formica pallidefulva group colony, but only retrieved a small number of brood. I was thinking P. lucidus, but I am not familiar with the undescribed species in this genus.

Yes
I've never seen it with any other.
Closely related species use other F. pallidefulva group hosts, though.
All will be clarified in my upcoming revision...

Hmm
I should have checked the Formica more closely. Formica incerta has not been recorded from Pennsylvania on Antweb (though I believe there is a specimen record in your revision, and there is no reason it shouldn't be present). I have not heard from Barkley Butler in nearly a year.

Thanks James
Does this species only use Formica incerta as a host?
