Midge flower gall - Rhopalomyia anthophila

Midge flower gall - Rhopalomyia anthophila
Cedar Rapids/ICNC, Linn County, Iowa, USA
September 8, 2011
Size: 6mm
goldenrod flower gall, S. canadensis, each gall had one pupa in center.

Gagne reports green cylindrical flower galls with white fuzz, in the genus Rhopalomyia, and I now notice that he reports R. anthophila as forming the cylindrical gall "widest at base" vs. another species widest at apex.
