Nepticulids actually leave their mines to pupate. They spin tiny, flattened, oval cocoons, which I think would be pretty much impossible to find in nature but I have had a few spin them in plastic bags/containers this summer.

i see mines all the time but i am so busy with everything i have a long list of things ill do someday..but i sure enjoyed this pic
it is so interesting toothat they pupate in the leaf like they do..those tiny tiny pupas
