Soldier Beetle - Cantharis grandicollis
1 mile north of Westwood in a clear cut area, Lassen County, California, USA

At first I was thinking this might be a genus Podabrus soldier beetle. But now I am thinking maybe some other genus. So any help with the correct ID is appreciated - thanks!
