What is this big butt spider? - Micrathena gracilis

What is this big butt spider? - Micrathena gracilis
Outside of South Whitley, Whitley County, Indiana, USA
August 11, 2011
I have been seeing many different kinds of these big butt spiders all over the farm.

You're certainly welcome to leave this cropped
but I kind of like it small in the palm of the hand... which give a sense of size.. we don't have many images that show that.

Micrathena gracilis - Spined Micrathena
Moved from ID Request.

They are a small, harmless orb weaver. Pretty cool, huh?

Thanks for the help!
There are really cool. It is fun to see them just hanging out all over the place.
