Size: Maybe around 8.5 mm?
I assume this may be Pisaurina mira.

It wouldn't get off
At first I thought it was an egg sac, but it seemed too big. I picked it up, held it at eye level, flipped it over, the spider stayed right there. It was hollow on the bottom. I wasn't sure if it was a dried fungus or styrofoam packing material. I put it back down and then shot some pictures. Maybe the spider was protecting it as if it thought it was an egg sac?

Great catch...
....I often find this species when I'm out photographing fungi! They seem to like hunting the type of insects that inhabit those locations.
