recent area hatch? migration?
I observed a substantial movement and wreck of this species on the Park Point beach in Duluth MN at 7:30 AM the 12th of September. Interesting seeing recent area postings of this species from you and from Michael Butler. I hope all the Duluth individuals had already mated/laid eggs, because most of them were dying in the lake or on the beach. I saw scores of them flying in over the water from the NE.

normal for the species
The larval stage often reach pest levels in local populations and have only one flight often emerging in large numbers.

I'll watch for them in the fu
I'll watch for them in the future, to try to see if there's a population on the Point, or they move in in 'wrecks' from... somewhere! Or both. It was quite something to see them coming in from far out over open water.
