Bagworm display? - Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis - male

Bagworm display? - Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis - Male
Manhattan, Riley County, Kansas, USA
September 13, 2011
Does anyone know the purpose of this display by a male bagworm? They seem to do it frequently.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Possibly (?) one position used when inserting abdomen into the bag enclosure that houses the wingless females.
