Small green bug ID? - Chinavia hilaris Williamson County, Texas, USA June 4, 2006 Size: 1/2 to 3/4 cm (approx)
This small, flat, bright green bug was crawling rapidly over the thin grass of the "dry woods" (a rocky-soiled rise on our land.) It moved fast enough that it was difficult to gret into focus, and it was definitely headed "somewhere" as it went across the path and into the grass. It did not seem to be looking for something to eat--no exploring, no pauses. I don't recall seeing anything quite like it before. The waxy-shiny bright green color (our vegetation was already drying to duller greens) and the movement caught my eye. In the computer, enlarged, I could see the telltale triangle that indicates it's a true bug of some kind (I think...) but I have no idea where to look to find its relatives.
