Definitely looks like Leptoglossus. Here's the

Did you get any shots from other angles? I really want to call this one
L. clypealis
- I think I see the distinctive pointy nose. When I started writing this post, I was troubled by the range given for that species, but on viewing a map of the US (I'm not a native) I see that east to IA almost includes IL - so that's my best guess. :)

it really seems to like these yellow flowers! (Coreopsis, I think?)
