Bee at Vernonia - Melissodes - female

Bee at Vernonia - Melissodes - Female
Shaw Nature Reserve near Gray Summit, Franklin County, Missouri, USA
August 1, 2009
Size: 15-16 mm
A local bee expert tells me "definitely Anthophora walshi", but there's no page for the species, and I don't want to guess at the subgenus.

Moved
Moved from Anthophora.

Melissodes female
doesn't resemble Anthophora (note different wing venation, tergal hair bands, etc.)

Not the other guy's misidentification.
I have to take the blame for this, as the "definite" ID was made on a picture of a different bee. Now I'd better go look at the other picture and study the differences!
