Fuzzy moth resting on dead leaf - Chloridea virescens

Fuzzy moth resting on dead leaf - Chloridea virescens
Escondido, California, San Diego County, California, USA
September 15, 2011
This moth was resting one evening on a leaf of a dead branch on the ground. I suspect it's Heliothis. I don't know what the liquid is behind it. There wasn't any more nearby.

Heliothis virescens - Hodges #11071
Moved from Owlet Moths.

If I saw it in my backyard, I'd lean towards a Tobacco Budworm Moth - Hodges #11071. A Three-lined Flower Moth looks similar, except the colors are reversed. Someone more familiar with western fauna, will be able to take it home.

Moved from ID Request.
