What about...
Viburnum lentago
with oddly shaped leaves? Green fruit on
Amelanchier
in September doesn't make sense, and I think Ilona nailed the ID.

The unpointed leaf tips threw me off, but that does make more sense. Cannot tell the leaf arrangement from this photo, but Joe will check the specimen to see if it is opposite, thus supporting
Viburnum
.

Viburnum it most likely, which would apparently be a good host plant for these treehoppers.
