Ants, Aphids and Larva - Lasius aphidicola

Ants, Aphids and Larva - Lasius aphidicola
Coldstream, Southern, British Columbia, Canada
September 18, 2011
I lifted a log and found these ants busy farming the aphids and I presume also trying to hide their larva.

Nice images
Much better than my blurry ones from Missouri (with a different aphid):

Interesting to see the dark-bodied adult aphid among the pale nymphs.

Thanks
James!
