Why is this not P. pennsylvanica? The shape of the rear of the bug (the tegmites in combo) is unlike (narrower) most other pics of P.a. americana and is much like pennsylvanica. Not certain how you'd tell the two apart from just this view... though I'd love to know

Looks like Phymata to me, but I don't know my western bugs, so better wait for an expert,
